Stowe National Trust - Craft and Design Festival

Great... a show that's local enough for me to not live out of a suitcase for a week and pay for the privilege! Stowe Craft and Design Festival is only 30 minutes down the road at Stowe Landscape Gardens, in Buckingham and I've been looking forward to doing a good local show this year as many of my other exhibitions seem to take me everywhere but.

When I pulled up to the venue on Friday (set up day) and parked I was greeted with a fantastic view from the gardens back towards Stowe House. There was even a glimpse of some sunshine... honest!

So I hot footed it to the marque and set up my stand ready for stocking on Saturday morning. A bit of creative thinking was involved as I am usually spoiled by floors and walls for me to display my work on and all I had booked was the floor space, a table and a chair.

Saturday morning was a brisk set up and then hours spent faffing around with which scarf goes where, which order do my cards go in and which purses to pop out first... it's a hard life.

So, I'm all set up and ready to sell! Lots of new prints, purses and even my pocket squares / handkerchief sets are making their debut this weekend. The show runs for all over the bank holiday weekend (25th, 26th and 27th August) in the lush setting of Stowe Landsape Gardens. Follow the blue sign posts from Buckingham to find me and the the other craft work on sale this weekend.

Antoni and Alison - AW12

What a fantastic start to London Fashion Week today!
Antoni and Alison's Autumn Winter 2012 collection opened my eyes to application of digital print and had me mesmerised all the way through the show. Scanned oversized fabrics, papers, staples and embellishment textures printed onto beautiful silk dresses are definitely a must have for a bleak autumn/winter wardrobe. A few of my favourites are below, check out the London Fashion Week Website for more collections this week!

Colour my life

A little less conversation, a little more colour please...

I flit through stages of inspiration and at the moment I'm having a surge of colour moments. Inspiration hit me to continue my investigation after watching a fantastic program on the BBC about Matisse, especially his colour cut outs for JAZZ. Colour is a personal media that more than often reflects your emotional response to a subject, isolating the colour in quick colour palettes gives me families of colours I wouldn't normally choose.
So since 6th April 2010 I have been keeping a daily colour diary over at Colour Lovers http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/craigfellows , again creating quick colour stories based on a mood, dream, anything visual that stimulated my creative senses
that day. Quite self indulgent really!
