SIMPLY CHRISTMAS Gift Show - Harrogate
UPDATE
So seeing that I have just finished unpacking the car from the show and in between making a few commissioned orders, I thought I might share a few snaps from the event. It's the first large gift show that I have done and had to actually take a stock of work with me to sell, which was a mission in it's self. I'll be back in Yorkshire in April for the BCTF (British Craft Trade Fair), hopefully this time without the 2 foot of snow!
My complete Spring/Summer range
100% Silk Habotai LONG scarves
Limited Edition Prints
100% Silk Habotai LONG scarves
100% Silk Habotai LARGE SQUARES scarves
100% Silk Habotai LONG scarves

It's definitely NOT all white...
Well as the title suggests, just when you thought that it was ok to presume that a white object is white... guess again. I've been looking closely at the shadows and the highlights you find on white objects. I find it quite interesting that you can find colour where you thought that none existed before? So next time you look at a white radiator, look again... and are you really sure that those white kitchen rolls don't have any purple in them?

Lets get the show on the road...
Ok, so this is more of a passing update for the minute until I know more details but I sent off my graduate collection this week for consideration for the Clothes Show London, to be used in the main stage show... Whoop whoop!

To Have and To Hold...
My prints are transitional, not just a quirky drawing here and a smatter of whit there. To be able to hold them, touch them and interact with them is very important to my design aesthetic. Although on one hand I am concious of the surface design, texture and finish, equally, if not more important is the interaction element. Products and wearable accessories that come from my prints and illustrations give people that opportunity to touch and feel what would otherwise be a metre of flat printed fabric.
And besides, you can't take a roll of fabric shopping!

Colour my life
A little less conversation, a little more colour please...
I flit through stages of inspiration and at the moment I'm having a surge of colour moments. Inspiration hit me to continue my investigation after watching a fantastic program on the BBC about Matisse, especially his colour cut outs for JAZZ. Colour is a personal media that more than often reflects your emotional response to a subject, isolating the colour in quick colour palettes gives me families of colours I wouldn't normally choose.
So since 6th April 2010 I have been keeping a daily colour diary over at Colour Lovers http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/craigfellows , again creating quick colour stories based on a mood, dream, anything visual that stimulated my creative senses that day. Quite self indulgent really!
Day 33 (Cherry blossom and pavements)
Day 17 (Dirty sunshine)

Lustre 2009 - Post -Op
Ok so less of a debrief and more of a post to showcase bits from my latest collection.
I don't have many images of my new work at the moment but here are some shots from Lustre back in November 2009, which btw, was fantastic!!! First photo up is of the black vinyl wall graphic that I had made based on one of my illustrations from Andy at Storm Print in Northampton storm-print.co.uk.
